Mecanova is a Frankfurt-based importer of premium agave spirits, built by two people who would rather move one honest bottle correctly than a thousand carelessly — connecting Mexico's finest producers with the European trade.

Tequila, mezcal and raicilla carry their landscape in the glass — soil, altitude, climate and craft. Few categories reward integrity so generously, and so few honour it.

We work only with spirits that stand on their own — no glycerine, no flavouring, no shortcuts. What the agave and the maker put in is what reaches the glass.

Bringing agave spirits into Europe demands more than enthusiasm: customs, excise, labelling and lot-level traceability. We treat regulation as infrastructure, not obstacle — so our partners never carry that risk.

Behind every shipment sits a system: traceable documentation, clean data and tools that remove friction from professional distribution. The technology stays invisible so the product can speak.

We are pre-revenue and deliberately small — and that is the point. Our first shipment arrives soon; everything we build is meant to outlast it.
Sebastian and Felix met at university, where a shared fascination with Mexico's agave spirits became a plan. They founded Mecanova in 2024 and run every part of it together — sourcing, compliance, logistics and everything in between — in the belief that Europe is ready for agave spirits done properly.
Most agave spirits reach Europe already compromised. Two of the three problems below are really one — what's in the bottle — and the third is how little of the honest stuff ever makes it across. None of it is secret; it's just rarely shown.
A wave of US class actions in 2024–25 accuses household tequila names of passing off cheap, industrially made spirit as “100% agave” — lab tests, they allege, reveal cane alcohol and undisclosed additives the label never mentions.
Independent lab analysis estimates 70%+ of tequila carries undisclosed additives — and of the brands that volunteer for testing, more than 80% fail.
Authentic small producers also face Europe’s import wall — spirit-drink labelling and geographical-indication rules, plus excise duty set country by country. Without a compliant, dependable importer, their finest bottles arrive through fragmented, risky channels — or never arrive at all.
